How to Maintain the Thermal Conductivity of Graphite Condensers: Guide by Shengshi Datang

When the thermal conductivity of a graphite condenser decreases, maintenance should be carried out promptly. If severe fouling occurs, appropriate chemical cleaning methods can be used. In cases where internal passages are blocked by crystalline deposits, heating and melting can be applied for cleaning. Mechanical equipment or cleaning agents should not be used. Maintenance tools such as shovels, cutting tools, soft brushes, compressed air, and high-pressure steam can be employed for cleaning. For severe fouling or complete blockages, a tube-type water-jet drill can be utilized.

 

For chemical descaling, a chemical analysis of the fouling substances in the graphite condenser must first be conducted to determine the appropriate cleaning solvent. Sulfate and silicate deposits are typically cleaned with alkaline solutions, while carbonate scale is treated with acid. Sodium carbonate or sodium hydroxide can be used for tar-like deposits, and detergents or cleaning agents mixed with water in specific proportions are also effective. When opting for chemical cleaning, the use of corrosion inhibitors is essential. After chemical cleaning, rinse repeatedly with clean water until the water runs clear. In addition to the methods mentioned above, an active cleaning approach using sponge balls can also be considered.
